The weather isn’t the only thing in Austin that feels like home for the Crowdly team. Boston techies, creatives and bloggers migrated south for the weekend and are making the most of SXSW Interactive. Here’s a look at some waves we’re making.
1. Boston brands have some of the best minds in community management:
- Dunkin’ Donuts has their A-team down in Austin representing Boston’s favorite coffee brand and having some fun. Besides, who can say no to that schwag?
- Converse is sponsoring The Fader Fort once again this year and the line-up looks anything but average.
- Bose is throwing a party on a boat. Something tells us the music is going to sound just fine.
2. Boston-born stars have made us proud:
- Bill Simmons gave Ballroom D insight into personal branding and helped Nate Silver announce his new venture, FiveThirtyEight.
- Mindy Kaling was gently grilled by Anne Fulenwider on her tweeting speed, being a woman in comedy and Anne Frank.
3. Social innovation in medicine is born in Boston:
- In a city known for its hospitals and universities, it’s no surprise that Boston is home to huge innovations in social media and medicine. Andrey Ostrovsky of Boston Childrens Hospital took us through some key ways doctors are using social media to communicate to larger communities and give patients a better experience.
4. Boston-area colleges and universities are leading the charge in social:
- Universities are using social media more than ever to connect with students an alums. Leading the charge are some savvy community managers, incredible social media directors and awesome students.
- Harvard hosted a big alumni event last night and put together a Digital Harvard list for alums to connect throughout the week. Follow the #HarvardSXSW hashtag to follow along.
- Berklee has one hell of a music line-up this week at their Boston & Beyond party.
- MIT employees and alums are on an extensive list of panels. We’re most excited for the Creativity in Innovation & Entrepreneurship panel coming-up on Tuesday featuring John Maeda and Robert Safian.
5. We house some of the best minds in digital marketing.
- Period.
6. We throw one hell of a party:
- So, last night was fun. A lot of fun. So much fun, in fact, that it took us until now to write a recap on last night’s Do More Faster Party with Techstars. Here’s our recap of the awesome event.
